Abject Fear...

Hello,

I don't know if anybody can help me or has any advice but I'm expecting baby number two and am absolutely terrified of the whole giving birth thing.
Last time I wasn't too worried but it didn't go very well and after induction (prostin + oxytocin drip) I ended up with an emergency section under general anaesthetic as my daughter became very distressed as they kept messing around with what was going on. I was given the impression I would have progressed naturally but a mistake meant they had to go ahead with the induction.
But anyway, I am terrified of another emergency section. After ALL the effort and pressure put upon my girl to be told they were just going to knock me out and cut her out of me really stung and I don't know if I could handle it again. This whole thing makes me seriously worry about what to do this time. I think I could get to grips with an elective but I just can't decide whether I want to do that or whether it would be in our best interests.
Without guarantee that the same thing won't happen again or something similar I feel completely lost.
I know it's very early on in this pregnancy but I'm genuinely terrified already

Thanks for listening xx

I'm sorry to read you had such a rough first birth.. I did too, and am also terrified this time around of how the labour/birth might pan out.. It's really awful.. You know you've got to go through it, no escaping it, but unlike with baby number 1 you're not blissfully unaware second time around are you.. I've nothing else to add but will keep an eye on this thread as an sure there will be others with far better advice than me lol xx

Thank you for posting at all . I know I'm not the only person to be dreading it second time round but I feel like I need a guarantee that the same won't happen again and I feel like the only way to do that is to choose to have an elective and I really didn't want to do that ... it seems like my only option though x

with dd i managed naturally, but she was back to back and ended up turning as she was crowning leaving me with a very nasty complex tear and lost 3 litres of blood, and the moment i was told this one is back to back again i almost burst into tears and as the consultant so happily told me second time around its normally quicker and easier, so i keep telling myself this time nothing will go wrong as it did last time as lightning doesnt strike twice. cant say if im much help but try and stay positive and just talk through your concerns with your mw and hopefully she can help you and put your mind at ease x x

Oh good luck with your second. I've heard all sorts of stories about number 2,3,4 and it makes me even more worried most of the time. I know I need to research this stuff but the more I research the worse it seems!!

I was dreading my second birth too as I had quite a traumatic first birth that resulted in very very bad tearing. However my second birth was the best experience of my life. I could not have hoped for anything a better birth.

I wish they could guarantee this, without a guarantee I'm not sure I can do it :/ x
