Is the 'plug' always tinged with blood?

Hi,
I am 39 weeks + 5 days and for the past couple of days Ive had a few potentially early labour signs:

Increased lower back pain
Period-like stomach cramps low down
Urinating every 10/15 mins
Diarehea (sorry abt spelling!)

Anyway, today I have noticed that I have A LOT more discharge than normal, its fairly thick and creamy coloured (sorry if thats TMI!). I'm wondering if it could be the mucus plug coming out gradually?

Does the plug always have blood in?

It usually does but you could have had it down the loo without even noticing it and the increase in discharge is also a sign of labour. I never noticed a show with my 1st labour but i was getting loads of discharge then the contractions started! I had a show about 3 weeks before i had my 2nd dd but nothing happened after that then all i had in actual labour was the contractions. My waters never went with either til in hospital and on the bed lol. xx

No, the plug can be yellowish, greenish, brownish, pinkish, bloody, clear, white, etc. If it is with blood it's called a bloody show.

My mucus plug came out long before (a few days) my bloody show started.
