Yes its normal especially after an episiotomy. I had natural tearing but found sitting very uncomfortable for a good while.

I had an episiotomy and I'd say it took a good 2 to 3 weeks to just sit down with out thinking about any pain or discomfort! It should start to feel better soon x

I had a 2nd degree tear and it took 2-3 weeks for me to be able to sit properly. It made BFing horrible.

Yup its a killer!!
I had a surgical episiotomy and (TMI and OMG i wish someone had told me this could happen!!!) i got piles from the pushing too!! Didn't have any piles or problems during the whole pregnancy and then bam!!
So little man is 3 weeks old now and i finally feel better though wearing jeans still a bit uncomfortable!
Things i found that helped
1. lie down as much as you can and take the pressure off the relevant area!!
2. shower in the morn when time is short and a bath in the evening when daddy is home!
3. Use tea tree oil in the bath and make up a little sprizer spray of teatree and cooled boiled water for after everytime you pee.
4. take regular pain relief!! Go to the doctor if you think you may have an infection (hot , more swollen, discharge thats different and /or smelly) and get antibiotics..very commonly needed.
5. high fibre diet and mild laxative for the next few weeks...constipation is definately not what you need on top of everything. TMI alert but use a cold damp cloth to press against stitched area when passing the first few poo's.
hopefully you'll feel better soon but i wish someone had warned me about the after effects!! I have to say the hype is all about birth and labour...i've actually felt more pain dealing with the aftermath than i did in my 40 hours of labour!!!!

Good to know I'm not alone. I had odd vaginal and labial tearing, and after the birth, I had to have the episiotomy for my OB to repair the vaginal tears. I look forward to the painful days disappearing.
