You have to be careful which ones you watch! I had a really lovely birth last time around, and I'm so excited to do it all again. It was bloody hard work, but always manageable. I can genuinely say I enjoyed my labour, and I expect to this time too. Don't be scared!

I found that pushing was the least painful part! The contractions are worse but right at the end, its all pressure, the contractions arent painful by then either. Its more of a relief when you get to push

I too found pushing the least painful part.

Have you seen the Business of Being Born? A woman gives birth in the tub and just pulls the baby out like nothing, just kinda fell out. No screaming, no yelling, just *pop*, and a hug. It was lovely to see.

I loved giving birth, it is such a special experience and it will probably be the most special moment of your life.
I honestly loved it, the pain is such a small part and there is plently of pain relief available, pushing is a relief, I. think giving birth is beautiful x

My labour was rough, it took three days from start to finish and yes it was very painful. However I agree with what the other ladies here say. Pain relief helps (diamorphine was mana from heaven) and the pushing bit while painful is not that difficult. For me it felt like doing a massive poo! I kept asking the midwife if I was pooing!

What no one ever tells you is how quickly you feel better. I couldn't believe how energetic and healthy I felt after giving birth, better then I had in my whole pregnancy.

Also as you are at the head end you get to miss out on all the gory parts if you want. I didn't look so I never saw any blood or anything.

Not everyone finds birth to be this horrible painful experience. I loved giving birth to my ds2. It was at home, so calming, peaceful and the pushing was a really neat experience. 98% of my labor was just like menstraul cramps, it was only the transition that was intense and that is at the end of labor right before pushing and it doesn't last long.

I couldn't make myself watch a birth video. Even still I've given birth twice and still cringe thinking.about birthing videos. Pushing is the easy part its such a relief to have all that pressure gone. Contractions are Hell. I had a 100% natural birth ( not by choice) and Omg the pain from the contractions hurt so bad it was the best feeling in the entire world to push.
