Is it normal to bleed a lot after m/c?

Is it normal to bleed this much after a m/c? I just found out about what happened just a couple days ago. I just recently started spotting the other day and now I just seem to be hemorrhaging and it just won't stop. I've gone through an overnight pad and my pants last night. (sorry tmi). I just have a lot of clots. Sometimes I'll go to the restroom and it'll look like very little blood and then out of no where I start to hemorrhage bad. How long will the bleeding last? Is it normal to have a lot of big clots?

Hi, firstly i am so sorry your going through this, I had a m/c at the start of january so understand completly what you are going through. My mc was expected as I had a early scan which showed the baby was 5 weeks when i was 8 weeks so was told to expect to mc which i was told would be like a 'heavy period.' Well what I actually experianced was nothing like a heavy period much more like what you descibed. I found that for three nights running starting late evening (and lasting for about 3 hrs) i would bleed heavily with lots and lots of large clots and i also experiance horrible cramping pain. The heavy bleeding stopped after 3 days but I still continued to spot for about 7-10 days after.

I hope your not experiancing the cramping but if you are i found a hot water bottle really helped. If your worried about the amount you are bleeding you should get checked out, are you in contact with community midwives? or even go to A&E xxx

I'm sorry to hear about your loss as well. Thank you for replying too. We will get through what we're going through together. I'm still passing through denial and depression. I have been cramping severely, but I was given Vicodin for the pain which only takes a little of the pain away & just makes me want to sleep. I'm not in contact with my community midwives...I'm not sure what A&E is either. This is all new to me, so I don't really know what to expect. This is my first m/c so I don't know what I'm going to be going through or what I should be concerned about or not.

hi A&E is accident and emergancy.. if you felt you were bleeding excessive amounts then it might b an idea to seek professional advice. I work as a nurse so have a very basic understanding or m/c, i didnt want to seek professional advice as it would mean going to where i worked and i couldnt face that.

I finally feel like iv accepted what happened but still feel upset every now and then..3 of my firends are pregnant so i mainly feel down when im around them. Im just hoping to start ttc as soon as possible which i think will help me move on. xx

Thank you for responding. I'm sorry for your loss. Good luck ttc. Being around anything that involves children now is really hard for me. I try to avoid it because I'm just not ready yet. It's gotten a bit easier, but still hard. I don't think it was accident & emergency. I don't know what I'd consider accident & emergency. My cramps became more noticeable & escalated where I could barely walk. I just noticed a lot of changes. I didn't ask any questions about what happened. I just wanted to leave and go home. I stayed in shock for a while then I just broke and cried the whole time. I will try to go to the doctor's about the amount there is.
