Waiting

Waiting to miscarry.
I went for an early scan two wks ago, which would have been about 7/8 wks (I think I ovulated on 22 Dec & got bfp on 4 Jan) and it showed empty gestational sac (showing 6 wks) & yolk sac. Went back again last wk & gestational sac had grown slightly (showing 7 wks) but still empty. We were given 3 options:
Wait it out naturally
Medical inducement through tablets
D&C

Because I can be away from home a lot I am scared to wait it out as I could be anywhere. So we go back on Friday for a final scan & the tablets. No idea what to expect (had d&e for last mc).

Once you take the tablets they want to see you every 48 hrs to rescan & see if you are passing everything (& not haemorriging).

So it is very sad & hard knowing this pregnancy hasnt worked & also knowing the worst is still ahead this wkend.

We are oldies and running out of time. We have been ttc for 3 years. This is our 2nd preg in that time (the first was a mmc at 13 wks) and we also had a failed ICSI cycle. So this is really taking its toll. And somehow we are going to have to pick ourselves up from this and keep trying

Thanks for reading xxx

so sorry for your losses dear, and sorry to hear you have to go through the whole thing again.
i wish all the luck in the world to you and your OH with the ttc... sometimes life is so unfair.
why have you opted for medical management and not for the d&c again if you were familiar with the procedure? less waiting time after?

hugs to u, i send love your way and pray for you this weekend

Thanks skyesmom
Im not sure about the decision, there seems to be a notion that multiple d&c's can cause scarring or damage - i think this is prob a very tiny tiny chance & we should maybe look into d&c more before ruling it out, so good question. Thanks for your thoughts. How are you? X

hey dear, i heard about the scarring too but i think it is risky after 4 d&c's if i remember well...
i am doing well today, it is exactly a year since we discovered we were expecting our little angel today, so it's a very special day full of moving memories, but somehow by some magic we are doing surprisingly good, remembering only the love we shared. the pain and the suffering which were usually there, somehow left us in peace today.

i hope you two will go out of this ordeal as soon as possible and greet your little rainbow soon

oh thank you for your kind words
it sounds like you might as well have a natural mc. arm yourself with pads and in case you start soaking more then 1 pad per hour or are in severe pain, go to the ER. or even without waiting to get to that point, go to the ER if it makes you feel safer and taken care for. mc is hard enough on its own, so do whatever will make things easier for you, even only practically.
i'm with you

I'm so sorry hun. I was diagnosed with mmc at 14 weeks (was measuring 11 weeks on scan). I also opted for medical management (tablets). I had to stay in hospital to be monitored until I passed everything. It was pretty traumatic for me...a lot of blood and pain. I had some pretty intense contractions, which came as a shock, as I never expected it to happen like that. When I was going through it I remember wishing I had went with the d&c....then again, there can be risks with that as well. It's such a hard and personal decision to make and one no woman ever wants to be faced with. If you go with the tablets, I would suggest having some strong painkillers on hand and somebody to support you throughout. Of course, keep in mind that everyone is different and some people manage quite well (physically) with this option.

Best of luck with whatever you decide. Sending positive thoughts your way.
