Hi everyone. **Possible TMI warning**I'm going through an odd siutation, and was wanting some insight as to what others may think or if anyone else has ever been through this. I had mirena iud put in in December 2011 after baby #2. Everything was fine, just normal light periods or spotting randomly. Then 3 weeks ago I started spotting like usual. However, it started turning into heavy, painful bleeding. And the last week it has been so heavy it's been soaking pads every hour, large clots, etc. Yesterday my clots got as big as oranges, and in one of those clots was my mirena iud. Still having some heavier bleeding/clots, not quite as heavy as this past week, but still heavy. I had gone to the doctor on Monday and all they did was check that mirena was in place still, and kind of brushed me off. The only thing I can think of is a miscarriage. What do you think?
Yes that sounds like a miscarriage . Big hugs to you. Miscarriage can happen easily with an iud as can ectopic pregnancy and the level of blood you had is indicative of a blighted ovum or missed miscarriage. If it was a missed miscarriage, did you see a small sac with your baby when you passed the clots? See if you can visit your OB and have a scan to ensure all the tissue is expelled. Best wishes and hugs
Thank you for your response. I went in today, ultrasound showed nothing in the uterus. We did bloodwork to check for hcg, and a d&c as well. I should know more next week, but gut feeling just tells me miscarriage
