I had my scan yesterday; and unsurprisingly for me considering my medical history of prolonged menstrual bleeding and lochia as bits of the lining just seem to get stuck; despite my uterus being as clean as a whistle otherwise, there was a tiny piece of either blood clot or tissue stuck in there (and by tiny I mean 20mm by 5mm), my hospital is very thorough so while it doesn't warrant a d&c they said I have to return in two weeks time for another scan; and then after that if its still not gone. Which is a bit of a pain as while the hospital is not far; the traffic is terrible and I have to make arrangements for childcare et al; and also my husband has to rejig his shifts at work. I have however stopped bleeding completely now and I worry its just not going to come out; will my period return and flush it out anyway or if anything at all is in there will it prevent my periods returning? I had a negative pregnancy test almost immediately after everything came out...so I'd presume all the hormone-related tissue is gone....thanks
aww hun im sorry your being messed about....im not very sure n im guessing if your hcg levels are down your right it probably isnt any of the tissue left over...probably best you just see what they say...sorry im no help but i know how frustrating it is when you dont get a reply xx
Hi Soph, I can't say for sure, but I wouldn't think a piece of tissue would prevent your period from coming, and when you do get it again it will probably flush that little piece out. The body has a way of flushing everything out that isn't needed. I'm sorry you have to return again in two weeks. I know you probably just wish everything was over with so you can move on. Its good at least you don't have to get a D&C. Best wishes Soph xx
Thanks all. yes I think they are just being very thorough; which is reassuring but its just an extra worry really. I don't know how small the piece has to be to be just left altogether; I read about one lady on another forum having a piece not much bigger than a full stop (must have been an eagle-eyed sonographer!) and they still insisted on her coming back. Hope that doesn't happen to me. I have read in various places if this happens and the piece remaining isn't from the placenta or sac then you may just get a heavier period next time around and it will be gone with that, but I wondered if anyone here has actual experience of this.
Hi, Just wanted to say it sounds like you are being well looked after , with a piece so small it is likely that when you have you next AF it will contain clots and may be heavy this is natures way of having a good clear out. The hospital likes to keep an eye as there is a small risk of infection. Wait and see what happens when you next go but it sounds like you are being well looked after. Sendind you and best wishes. Let us know how you get on xx
thanks hun for the reassurance, the bleeding and brownish discharge has stopped completely now so I guess i have to wait for AF, just hope all this is sorted soon as meant to be going away somewhere end of this month; they gave me antibiotics at the time but of course they can only work for so long...I know the signs of infection so got my beady eye out for them
