5th miscarriage

Hey ladies
Anyone else experiencing a big number of losses?
I am having my 5th with no living children.
This time I was on clexane, prednisolone and cyclogest. I have been diagnosed with high NK cells and a borderline clotting disorder.
My bloods have been at a good level so the Clexane did its job. Can only assume it's my immune system attacking the embryo.
The medication didn't get us any further. Again baby has stopped developing around 6 weeks. Every time this happens. We get a heartbeat then they stop growing.
We just don't know what to think. This treatment failing has been a shock as we had so much hope. But then again it was only our first time trying it. Maybe it can take a few attempts? Feeling very fearful the motherhood may never happen. After 3 years of trying and 5 losses it's hard to feel optimistic.
However me and DH have said that we are not giving up.
I am only 31 and feel I have time to fight for what we want, to become parents.
If we ever have a baby this heartbreak will be so worth it 🌈

Trying, I am sure you will have a baby very soon.

Have you been tested for everything else? For me they did ovarian reserve, 3D ultrasound of uterus and put fluid in (can't remember what that was called), thyroid antibodies, karyotype for me and OH, sperm and DNA fragmentation (at 3 month intervals), vitamin D and prolactin and then also clotting and NK cells.

If everything comes back normal it could just be bad luck and the treatment will work. I never had definite answers myself which I found hard to deal with.

Fingers crossed

Hi Sweetkat
Hope you are doing ok!?
I had a hysteroscopy about 18 months ago which showed a normal cavity but I'm having another under GA in 7 weeks time. This one will be a proper look for scarring and removal of any adhesions as I have had 2x D and Cs.
I have had loads of blood tests. All normal apart from my clotting.
I haven't had any tests for ovarian reserve. What test would this be. Is this the day 3 bloods?
I am looking into the spermcomet test for DNA fragmanetation for hubby as he has never had a sperm test. I feel we need to rule things out incase there is anything.
I suspect my high NK cells are to blame again though.

Yes so they take day 3 bloods for AMH, FSH and estradiol and that's an indication of your ovarian reserve. They also count how many follicles you have on day 3 by doing a scan. I wanted to know in case there was an issue as they can prescribe vitamins to improve egg quality.

Are you in the U.K.? There is a guy at Lister who specialises in NK cells - in case he could give you more insight?

I think the comet test is a good idea because if the fragmentition is elevated your OH could take anti-oxidants to improve it and if it's not an issue at least it will be ruled out as an issue.

There are many success stories on here about women with high NK cells having babies after losses, I guess it just takes the right treatment. Hugs xxx

Thank you. I think I will have that done. Will be a while though as will be on HRT after my surgery and the coil for 4-6 weeks. So hopefully November or December cycle.
I used to take COQ10 but does t seem to have made difference. But if it was an issue I'm sure there will be something else that can be recommended.
Yeah I'm based in the UK. Where is the Lister based? I've been seen by prof Quenbys team in Coventry for NK cells but they don't do intralipids only the steroids.
Will defiantly do the spermcomet test. Hopefully will do that in September/October after our holiday as I'm assuming it will be costly with a private clinic.
I have read lots of sucess stories which have helped. Most seem to have sucess first time on treatment. But I guess the negative stuff gets posted less often that's all xx

I am so sorry you are going through all this, and so many times. Please know you are not alone. We started our marriage with several attempts to conceive, ending in multiple miscarriages, and a premie baby girl, (Erin) who had complications and only lived a week. We were scared and down, we went through testing.

Hang in there, listen to the medical advice you get, try to relax, go through your grieving and look forward.

At the time my husband and I were not "church-goers" but during that time we learned to pray together, we became closer, emotionally and intimately and things started to happen more positively for us. We now have a beautiful son and thank God every day for this blessing.

I wish you well on starting your family. I will be praying for you!

Thank you so much Lori

I am so sorry to hear that you have also had huge struggles. Loosing your little girl at a week old must have been absolutely heartbreaking for you both.
I am so glad to hear that you have both come through the other side and have a wonderful son. Such a blessing 🌈

I'm so sorry to read this and to how determined you are to fight.

I went through struggles, it was the most mentally testing time of my life and we came through.

Do you have a consultant you can talk with about the next step? x

Oh trying! Life is just so unfair sometimes. I know someone who went through 10 losses and then finally saw her dreams come true. I think she still doesn't exactly know why. There's so much we don't know. I really hope it doesn't take that much more for you. I think we can learn from her though that no matter your "number" it doesn't mean never. So much love and support your way
