An anembryonic gestation???

Hi,

Went for a scan yesterday, 11 weeks 2 days (as informed by midwife), was told there was no baby just the sac and placenta, absolutley devastated!

The sac only measured 6 weeks 5 days so i have been thinking everything was fine for the past four weeks!

Anybody else experianced this?

I feel like they could have made a mistake, i had no bleeding or pain or anything ... i also have a retroverted uterus which can sometimes, so i have read, make it difficult to see the baby.

I am really stuggling to come to terms with this . . . nothing has come away so i have to go to hospital next week to take some tablets to induce a 'mini' labour so everything will pass.

I am so upset this has come as a complete shock i have been experiancing pregnancy sysmtoms similar to when i was pregnant with my little boy, i actually look pregnant!

Hi Keo, I have not had the same, but something similar. I had a missed miscarriage. I went for a scan at 12 weeks and the baby had died at 7 weeks. I thought everthing was fine too. I waited for a natural miscarriage and started bleeding a few days later and miscarried a week after. Just finishing now. It broke my heart. I am so sorry for your loss. xxxxxx

Don't feel silly. You are not silly. Your pregnancy was a little life and loved. My first miscarriage wasn't that far along but i was gutted. It does get easier with time, but i never forget my angels and think about them everyday. Take care. xxxxxxxxxx

Sorry for your loss. It's such a big shock isn't it, plodding along like everything's going normally and then it all comes crashing down. I too had an empty sac and all the symptoms of pregnancy. I found out at my 12 week scan that the sac had only grown to 8 weeks. I had an ERPC a couple of days later as I wanted to get it over with quickly. I didn't grieve and probably still haven't as I couldn't come to terms with the fact there was no baby as such to grieve for. it wasn't explained that there had been an embryo at some point and that it had been absorbed into my body. It's such a hard thing xx

I had something very similar to you.

I thought I was 10 wks 6 days went for a scan they saw two empty sacs measuring no larger than 6 weeks. I too thought there must be something wrong, retroverted uterus or something and although it can happen, it is quite rare

Unfortunately I miscarried at 11+3. I still don't really know what happened and I doubt I ever will. I'm sorry you are experiencing this It's very surreal and confusing because you don't even know what was there/what happened! (Sorry if this is too much) But I was told that every week after the baby has passed, it gets smaller and eventually can reabsorb. I hope this is what happened with us in those weeks we knew nothing was wrong.

I hope you can feel better soon xx

Hi.. Ive had 2 miscarriages this yr. And my first (in march) was the same as yours, i think its whats known as a "blightened ovum" the sac is there with no baby
I found out at 11 weeks, however sac measured approx 6weeks. I too had all my pregnancy symptons. Resulted in me having to have an ERPC.
Truly devastating.
BIG HUGS
