Do you need to get a D&C after a chemical pregnancy?
I took an HPT that showed + but the next day at the doc office, the urine test was -. An HCG was drawn but I have not received the result, although my symptoms have faded after I had some very slight bleeding and cramping over the weekend. I took another HPT yesterday and it was negative.
I am worried about getting an infection and it affecting my fertility if I did in fact have a chemical pregnancy and have not had my period as of yet.
It has been 5 days since my negative test at the Doctors office.
with a chemical you get your period about a week late, you wouldnt need a D&C, thats a last resort really. Youll bleed soon, if you dont speak to the doctor and he will advise. I had a chemical and didnt even think about a D&C, id had a D&C before at 7.5 weeks missed misscarriage, but i had a reetained sac etc. Normally with a chemical implantation kind of fails and you bleed around or shortly after AF was due xx
I believe I just had a chemical pregnancy; I have been temping and using OPK tests. I got my positive OPK, and got a temp dip two days after that. Then I got implantation spotting around 8 DPO, then Saturday I got a Yes on a digital HPT, and had PG symptoms. I was so excited, well then Sunday my temp took a slight dip, I took 2 more tests, both were negative. At this point I was 2 days late with AF, called my fertility DR on Monday, had a blood test and they said it was negative; the results showed I was at the start of my cycle. Low and behold that night AF started; the past 2 days I have been extremely heavy and had some blood clots. I would suspect a chemical pg, but not 100% sure. I also had my tubes untied last October, so I have a higher risk. I have an appt next week for the HsG test to make sure everything is OK.
When I spoke to the nurse, she didn't seem concerned about infections or anything with that would affect my fertility. I would suggest calling your DR back if you are worried.
Shortystar...if you are worried about irregular cycles then I would just speak with your doc just to be sure. I also have PCOS and have been working closely with an endocrinologist for medications along with my OB. I have been on Metformin for about a year and a half now and have had regular periods since the day I started taking it. 30days to the hour are my cycles. I would not go forward with a D&C as in this situation it would possibly do more harm than good. Hang in there and I am here if you need to talk.
