How long does it take for hcg...

How long does it take to the hcg level to drop after a miscarriage? I was almost 5 weeks along when I started bleeding and had a miscarriage. This was 4 weeks ago. My hcg level was only 7 when they tested me at the ER. I stopped bleeding 3 days later. I was awaiting my period this week when I just decided to take a pregnancy test today and much to my surprise it was POSITIVE. I am thinking this could be left over hormones from the miscarriage? Any comments would be great...

Hi Jenna Rose, If your level was only 7 at the ER then I would say it is a new pregnancy as pregnancy tests generally only show positive when your levels are over 25 ! there is no way they can go back up unless you have retained product or molar pregnancy which at levels of 7 would be highly unlikely ! Go and ask your doctor for serial hcg level tests so they can see if they are rising. Otherwise congratulations

I read somewhere that the hcg in your blood rises and falls faster than urine. So while you're hcg may be 7 in blood - it could be a little higher in urine, like 15-20. An early response test may be able to detect it at that level. Some say 25, but will actually detect anywhere from 12-25. Give it two days and test again. If its positive, it might be another pg!!

Please let me know what happens. My test today just came back at 7. But also my hpt I just took is now negative.

It has been one week since I found out I was pregnant and my levels already dropped back down to 7 on Friday and now I guess 0 today because of my negative hpt test.

I hope all goes well for you!!! ✨✨✨✨✨✨sticky dust.

JennaRose - How dark did your BFP show up ? was it a very faint line or a dark line that came up straight away ? If your level was at 7 four weeks ago I highly doubt it would still be in your urine at levels that would show a positive result but please let us know ! I am very interested to know as I am following my (very slow) decline in hcg with tests and they are still showing a very faint positive 8 weeks on ! the second to last hcg I had I was at 44 yet the pregnancy test I took that morning was SO faint I would have sworn I was just on the 25 threshold of the tests sensitivity. So to me it indicated that hcg leaves your urine before your blood but I have also read that it's the other way around ! all very confusing !

I took a clear blue easy digital and it actually said PREGNANT - I should look up to see the sensitivity of those tests.

I wonder the difference of urine hcg levels and blood hcg levels? - The test publishes 50 but claims it could be as sensitive as 25miu
