Second baby passes after Miscarriage was taken care of with d&c

I have had the worst experience the past month or so.

I went in for my 4 week check-up at 17 weeks 2 days on 2/21, and found that my baby was no longer alive. The ultrasound showed it to measure 14 weeks 2 days. My doctor and I decided that d&c was the best option for me. I had to suffer and wait from Tuesday to Friday to finally have my procedure. I thought now all I had to do was work on my emotional healing...

As if dealing with the loss of your baby wasn't bad enough, it got worse. Three days ago, Monday 3/26 I had an entire fetus come out of me after a night of intense cramps. I was shocked and confused. After the d&c my doctor said the procedure "was a success" and when I asked if she got everything she said, "yes". She didn't follow up with an ultrasound or blood work and never at any time told me that there could still be more in there - especially a whole fetus! Because she seemed to feel confident that she had enough to think there wasn't anything left, I feel like there must have been enough extracted to be a full fetus, and the fact that she was able to get genetic testing done, and then that I had a full fetus--head hands and all--come out of me 4 weeks later, I think I had to have had twins.

I'll never know if it was twins or what happened...

The main reason I did the d&c was so I didn't have to go through all of this like I did this week...

Has anyone else experienced this???

So sorry for your loss. That's truely awful experience. I think you need answers have you contacted the hospital who did your d&c? Where I live you are usually under there care for 28days after procedure. I lost my daughter at 36weeks and also just has missed miscarriage so I know exactly how you feel. It's utterly heartbreaking. If you ever want to chat I'm always here xxx

I'm so sorry. That sounds incredibly hard to take. I would definitely contact your doctor. I can't imagine how something like that happens, but she definitely needs to know about it.

How awful for you.

My doctor knows. I called right away and went in with the fetus as soon as she would see me.

That is insane and I would be furious!!! I just had a d&c yesterday and I'm not even bleeding, which is a nice surprise! It sure seems like your dr failed hugely! I'm so sorry!! How incredibly painful for you!!
