Still bleeding 14 days after (tmi alert)

Hi ladies

I'm fed up!! I had mmc and took misoprostol in fri 23rd. Went back for a scan last Friday which showed mixed echoes which (to quote the nurse) are "probably just blood clots" and the fetus and pregnancy sac "seem to have gone or have at least broken down".

I know that every womans body is different and can take longer to miscarry but I'm just wondering of anyone can relate. The nurses at the hospital have basically told me to be patient and have just waved me off a if this is nothing. I just want to stop bleeding I keep reading stories of other women who only bled for 5 to 10 days and mine still looks nowhere near stopping. It's still like a medium to heavy period and still red blood (again sorry for tmi) xxx

I'm sorry you're still going through this. I know how you feel, just wanting it to be over. I've read you can bleed for awhile afterwards. I had a d&c so it was a totally different situation but I've really just stopped bleeding in the last couple of days. The procedure was done a little over a week ago. My doctor said I might bleed for up to four weeks, so I do think it's normal . Of course, if you're concerned call the doctor and confirm though.

Hi newbie,

Thanks for your reply. I think logically I know everyones different and 14 days isn't unusual, think I'm just a natural worrier and it feels like I've been bleeding forever!! The hospital just keep telling me the same thing, wait a bit longer, I just don't know when it will get to the point where they'll finally say its abnormal to still be bleeding, and I'm worried what may happen then.

I'm just a general bundle of nerves on the inside, but on the outside no one would know. People are already forgetting what happened but for me it's still happening

Hi There

I had a mc at 18 weeks and bleed for 2 weeks and even though it is now almost 4weeks later I still get cramping pins and mucus with a little blood in it. I have been told it can take up to 6 weeks for your body to recover after a mc. I just want it to be over to

Are you having any other follow up? I think you need to start getting pushy at this point. If you think something isn't right, be persistent. I had problems for more than 6 months before getting everything cleared up.

Hi twordue,

I'm so sorry for your loss, especially at such a later stage it must have been very hard. I keep hearing different things about what is normal and what isn't. I think if you are still having pain I would seek a different medical opinion, how long has it been since you miscarried? My pain stopped after about 9 days and now it's just the inconvenience of bleeding and a worry that it's not stopping because something is stuck. I'm especially starting to worry as I didn't see my baby pass and it was 11 weeks when it stopped growing so wouldn't have been small.

And mowat, I tried beIng pushy which is why I insisted on a scan last week but even though they still found echoes in my uterus they said it was all normal an I just needed to be patient. I've got a phone consultation tomorrow and I'm going to push for another scan if I can next week because last night I had another period of heavy bleeding and it was bright red, and I mean bright (sorry for tmi) and I'm sure that's not normal.

Thank you.
If you have not seen baby come through I would push for another scan as you can be at high risk of infection, I got really sick while I was in hospital from infection and they managed to get it early.
Its been four weeks today since my water broke and Tuesday will be 4 weeks since both boys arrived! I will going to see a doctor after the long weekend and see what is going on, the OH and I are going back to do IVF in 8 weeks so I want to make sure that everything is as it should be.
I do hope that you can get sorted as it is hard enough going through a mc without the extra stress of not getting the medical care that you should.x
