Contraception after MC

Hi everyone,

Anyone got any advice about contraception after a MMC? I want to give my body a 3 month break before getting pg again, but not really keen on the idea of the pill again. Would condoms suffice or am I just kidding myself into thinking we will make sure we use them??

I keep thinking that if I hadn't been on the pill though my body may have been more prepared for the pregnancy though, I want my body to regain its natural menstrual cycle. But am worried about whether relying in condoms is a good idea.....I am ready emotionally to try again, it's just financially thats more of a problem. But I have a nagging worry about messing with my body's hormones by using the pill or injection xxx

I hope this helps ease your worries, but I have never ever been on the pill or used any contraception aside from condoms. I miscarried at 6 weeks. So I guess it can happen to anyone.

Hi fifi,

So sorry for your loss, I know they say they don't know what caused miscarriages most of the time.....I'm just grasping at straws, trying to find any way to stop it happening again I guess I've been through every thought about why it happened ranging from it being because I'm rhesus negative, to the pill not preparing my body, even that maybe I went over my limit on caffeine now and again!! It's silly really because I will never know. Thank you for replying though and easing my worries a little, I know deep down it just happened and there was nothing I could do about it xxxxxxxxx

I had the same question about birthcontrol. My ob said she didn't recommend me going on anything because she said for some people it can take a while to get pregnant once you get off of it and she knew we wanted to try again soon. We stuck with condoms but we actually didn't have sex much for the month after the miscarriage (which was all we were waiting for). This time my doctor projected 3 months till we can try again and we will just stick with condoms again.

Same as Fifi, I have ever only used condoms. I tried the pill for 6 months or so about 18 years ago but I didn't like the side effects and having an actual 'barrier' made me feel more protected so I went back to condoms.

My LO stopped developing at 5 weeks, D&C next week.
