Whiplash concern

Hi
This evening a friend of ours was holding my 5 month old, supporting him under his bottom. My son then started to fall back whilst in the arms of my friend. I'm really concerned as although my son seems fine now, at the time he was crying so hard (like he was in pain) he fell quite far back and my friend didn't realise he was falling until the last minute when he caught my son. My little boy did not hit anything but I'm worried he may have hurt his back or neck. He's not showing any signs of pain now and is back to his normal self but I cringe every time I think of this incident and I actually can't believe it happened.

Any advice?

Take him to be checked out if you're concerned but I don't think you need to worry. Whiplash is, as far as I know, usually when the forces are really big like in a car accident. All babies fall at some point and it's scary - my LO cried for ages when the doctor checked her startle reflex with the fake dropping thing.
