Babywearing on a bicycle?

Would you? I just saw a blog showing a girl doing it - baby in an ergo on her front. On a main road... I was thinking baby would probably be better off on her back (and wearing a helmet!). What do you think?

I don't think I would! I'm too scared to even ride with a seat thingy or trailer on the back though. I haven't seen anyone do it before though, but I'm sure she is careful!

Nope I wouldn't. It only takes a small unexpected movement to cause you to lose your balance, especially if baby is on your back where you can't see them. Also when falling from a bike you're less likely to be able to protect baby than if you were walking. It's illegal anyway, you can be fined for carrying a child without a proper bike seat.

Quote:
Rule 68 of the Highway Code: You must not carry a passenger unless your cycle has been built or adapted to carry one.
Quote:
Road Traffic Act 1988, Section 24: Not more than one person may be carried on a road on a bicycle not propelled by mechanical power unless it is constructed or adapted for the carriage of more than one person.

I think it is incredibly dangerous and irresponsible.

I wouldn't do it either. The only way I would carry any child on a bike is if they were in a proper protective seat and helmet. Even then I would worry.

My husband suggested doing this with our daughter when she was little and I nearly had a fit!

The only way I would carry a child on a bike is in a trailer, with full body armour and a roll cage.

I used to use a trailer and got beeped and revved at the whole way up a narrow laned bridge (no path either) by some spotty little gobby shit in a punto. He actually clipped the trailer, luckily i was only towing shopping and not children.
