Bumgenious and fuzzi bunz owners - question about inserts

Would you recommend them?

I'm looking for some thicker inserts for my cheapie pocket nappies. My inserts at the mo are 3 layer but I'm hoping that the bumgenious ones would be much thicker even though they're only 3 layers also.

It's these or the Fuzzi Bunz I think, which are 4 layer inserts.

Any advice or experiences shared would be really useful.

I don't currently own either but have done in the past. Tbh I wouldn't bother replacing cheapie microfibre inserts with other microfibre inserts really. If I was going to the expense of buying whole new inserts I'd probably get bamboo or hemp ones then use the thin old microfibre ones on top of them. Or if you really want thicker microfibre I'd just buy more cheapie inserts and double up on them.

^what Rachel said.

Yes BG inserts are certainly better than ebay cheapies, but I would go for something different altogether if I were spending money on changing inserts.

FB have recently changed their inserts I think so can't really comment on their inserts as mine are a year old.

Thanks ladies

At the mo I use the cheapie mf inserts (3 layers) then a Little Lamb bamboo terry booster and still only get 2 hrs For this reason I'm dubious of bamboo. Maybe hemp?

Maybe 2hrs is all I should be expecting from a toddler who's nearly 2!?

That is what I'd expect with those TBH. I'd normally say that the LL bamboo boosters add maybe 40-60 minutes of extra time to a nappy, less for a heavier wetter. I would probably only expect the same from a cheap MF insert too, so that sounds about right. Bamboo inserts are a lot more absorbent than the boosters - the boosters are so slim, which is why they're great if you just need a little more time in a nappy with no noticeable extra bulk, but they don't take the place of an insert. If you want to see how a bamboo insert would work for you, try using three or four LL bamboo boosters together as an insert, plus a slim microfibre one on top.

Ah okay thanks Rachel. That's inexperienced purchasing for you. I'd seen everyone rave on about LL boosters but I guess most advice out there is aimed at much younger babies.
I will def try that with multiple boosters. I was really trying to keep his nappies slim but that's not gonna happen!!!

Could you recommend me a bamboo insert?

I think it's just what you're used to. I would say 3-4 LL bamboo boosters are still pretty slim but my kiddies have always been in cloth. Babies in disposables feel like they're missing half of their bum to me!!!

I have never actually bought a bamboo insert! I usually either buy bamboo nappies to start with or just add a LL booster or two to a microfibre nappy like a stay dry Flip insert. Actually, I lie, I have bought spare WN bamboo inserts and they're pretty good. A lot of people rave about P'tits Dessous ones so they may be worth a try.
