anyone know of an actual cloth shop in my area

im in luton uk

apparently like noone around here really uses cloth and i want to get to grips and have a feel before i go spending 10ish a pop on nappies to add to my smart nappy collection.

ive been told to buy flips... but i want ones that are patterned, but work the same way as a smart nappy. (am i right in thinking itti bitti d'lish snap in one will work? can i use the smart nappy inserts as boosters on them?)

You can search for shops here - http://www.goreal.org.uk/finder However, most shops don't have much variety. Your best bet is probably to order from somewhere with free delivery and returns, like Cheeks & Cherries and Fill Your Pants (I think they both do it).

If you want reusable outers, I don't think Ittis are a good idea. They don't have wipe clean inners so would get damp and smelly. They're also very trim so I think SN inserts would be too big. You can only really fit one or two Itti boosters in the Itti nappies, not other inserts.

You're looking for hybrid nappies. Flips are one example, as are G-nappies, Green Carbon Living, Grovia AI2/Hybrid, Gen Y Universals and Kawaii wraps. Those all have a flap or two to hold an insert in place so should work with your inserts or pad-folded prefolds. However, normal wraps will work too. You don't really need the flaps - just lay the insert down the centre of the wrap then put it on LO. Wraps with double gussets tend to work best as the gussets help keep the insert still. Then you have loads of choice, but make sure whatever you get has a wipe clean inner.

I have used smart nappies but I have now sold them as lo was out peeing the Mediums but I couldn't get the large anywhere as discontinued but I rate them highly (I do have one newborn one which I got for £1.20!) Anyway back on topic I get all my nappies on line I have only found a couple of shops that sell something other than Bambino Mio nappies (boots or mothercare) and thats a small shop next to oh work and they were Kushies (sp??)

And I second Thumper and Rachel Kawaii wraps are great I use them with econobum prefolds they hold them really well
