How often do you wash your nappies?

I have around 40 nappies, and wash every 5-6 days but read somewhere that they should be washed more often?
All my nappies were bought new, first nappies are around 8 weeks old but i'm constantly buying new ones so some are a week old ..yet they all have a really nasty smell? not so much as urine, but like bumbo mixed with something weird ..so i'm going to do a strip wash and start washing every 2-3 days - is that ok?
only thing is,my machine is 9 kgs is that a problem?

if i leave mine more than 2 days they start to stain, especially my bitti boos. I wash every 2nd day and put it on a long wash with a teeny bit of non-bio washing liquid then do an extra rinse at the end so i dont get much buildup. does sound like they need stripped. my bg xs smelled horrid when they needed stripped. i think mf based nappies smell worse sooner than other materials.

I was every 2-3, usually closer to 3! I have heard not to leave them too. I would strip & start washing more frequently if there is an issue. If not than it is ok. But if they aren't washing clean I would try to do another load every week.

I do a wash about twice a week, so every 3/4 days? Isla isn't much of a pooper though, but when she does I don't like to keep that nappy hanging around so tend to do the washes around her bowel movements

I do mine every 3rd day, but im going to start doing them every 2 days because Ive had some real problems with smell!
A 9kg drum is quite big! Ours is 6kg, but I think it also depends on what efficiency rating your washer is. Mine is an 'A' rating so it hardly uses any water at all and isnt great for nappies as they need lots of water. There is never any water pooled at the bottom of the drum and I end up pouring more in through the powder drawer!
If yours is 'A' rating and you fill a 9kg drum full of nappies, Im guessing that theyre not going to get rinsed properly.

Thanks girls! will start washing more frequently!

my washing machine is A grade,i do rinse, long 40C wash and another rinse. Not had too much problems with staining,i use fleece liners so that helps, but the smell is very unpleasant!

We only have 18 diapers, so they get washed every other day

Whenever I have a load (or sometimes sooner if a nappy I particularly want to use or prewash is in there!), which usually means every other day at the moment.
