Sleeping without "training"

I am interested to know the average age that children are developmentally ready to sleep through the night naturally without "training". Please only reply if you did not "sleep train" that is to did not alow your baby to cry in order to get to sleep. Thanks for sharing

Oh and if they're still not but are 20 months + please still choose that option to vote x

Weeeell, I never have done any sleep training.

She started sleeping though about 6 hours at about 3.5 months. However, it didn't last. Since then she's gone through patches of sleeping through for a few weeks, then weeks of waking. She's only been consistently (bar one or two nights) sleeping through 10-11 hours for about 6 weeks. She 20 months now.

Thanks for the reply. I've posted a poll now I think it's attached to the thread, never done it before! I thought it would be well over a year old for most! LOL

Well I need to be able to vote twice as I have 2 LOs!

They are very different with their sleep patterns. My son slept through from 11-6 at almost 19 months. Before that he would wake at 4am for food. My daughter sleeps from 11-6 now and has since she was about 3 months. So a HUGE difference.

I just follow their lead. My son is a great sleeper and napper now, but was terrible at under a year and never napped during the day until he was 9 months. Now he sleeps 9-8 every night plus a 2h nap every afternoon. We didn't do any kind of training at all. x

Doh, didn't think of more than one child LOL thanks for that, just shows it's the child's nature as to when they sleep if you did nothing differently!

We got very very VERY lucky, Lachlan slept through (about 6-8hours) from 5-6 weeks old. I voted two months just to be safe. I don't think he's in the norm though.

I voted 5 months because that's when we dropped the dreamfeed at 11pm so he was going 7 - 7. But he went from 7 - 7 with a dreamfeed from 12 weeks. Before that he woke twice a night from birth to 8 weeks, then once a night from 8 - 12 weeks.

We've never done any sleep training and always fed on demand during the night - we've just been seriously lucky in that he's been a textbook baby as far as sleep and dropping night feeds are concerned. He sleeps 7pm - 8am now with no night feeds in over 6 months. I'm sure we won't be as lucky with this next baby!

I didn't vote. Omar was a good sleeper when he was a baby. He used to sleep for 7-8 hours at 2 months, then 12 hours at 3 months (we FF so I don't know if it's different)

We didn't sleep train at all. At 8.5 months he went through a sleep regression that lasted for a month.

But after his 1st birthday his sleep was all over the place. He was teething nonstop (he's a late teether) & it affected his sleep. His cot was still in our room & we used to co-sleep in the mornings & when he wakes up at night. Then at around 15-16 months he moved full time to our bed. He still goes through sleep regressions every 2-3 months when he's not feeling well or teething.

We're fine will sleep regressions & we still co-sleep. xx

I'm not sure what to vote as our LO slept 9pm till 7am at around 2 months. Then she hit the 4 month sleep regression and we are still having her waking several times through the night for a feed.
