If you don't, you're likely to encounter issues with build up, even when using the absolute minimum amount of detergent.

since using Bold 2in1 my nappies are so much better :-) hardly use any and they come out really clean and don't smell any more plus I think they are more absorbent as I think they were a bit clogged up before plus I sometimes wash on 60

I use bold or fairy. Do a cold rinse (no spin first) then long cycle on 50 or 60 degrees with extra rinse, then another cold rinse or two after. I only use a tablespoon of powder (we have soft water here). I also have Homescents Clean and Fresh Nappy Sanitiser in Hemp and lemongrass which I got with some preloved nappies.
ETA Since using Bold and a higher temp Ive not had to do a strip wash!

I used persil, ariel or fairy but my nappies always had this horrible, horrible smell :/

so now i do rinse, long 60C or 40C wash and then rinse again without any detergent and nappies are back to being great again without any leaks or smell.

I use Morrisons own brand colour bio powder, 30mls (we have v hard water). Generally wash at 40 with the occasional 60, two additional rinses.
