Do you need to use liners with Bumgenius V4?

I think the time has finally come for me to get my act together and start using reusables. My LO is 5 months old. I had planned to use them from the beginning but she was born 7 weeks premature and then let's just say I haven't found motherhood very easy.

I have tried a couple of reusesble nappies, Bamboo pop-in and bumgenius v4. I like the bumgenius nappy and think I will go with that one. Now I'm not sure if I need to use liners with them? Also wondered if it would be worth getting some other type of booster to go with the inserts? I think my LO is a heavy wetter.

Any help would be much appreciated :-)

Also wondered are there any nappies the same as the bumgenius V4 but cheaper?

I use liners with all our nappies as it helps stop them getting stained.
As for cheaper nappies have you tried looking on the for sale board-there are usually lots of bgs on there.

No you don't need a liner with BGv4s, they have a stay dry liner. I still use one (homemade fleece) though as I am fussy about trying to keep my nappies as nice as possible. I boost my BGsv4s with a Little lamb bamboo booster under the BG microfibre insert. At 5 months I would say you may need to think about boosting yes.

I wouldn't bother lining as the suedecloth inner will keep LO feeling dry. I'm not bothered about stains until it comes to selling them on, and then a bit of sun or some Vanish will usually sort it.

I'd second the recommendation for LL bamboo boosters. They're thin so you probably won't even feel the difference in thickness of the nappy but they generally add 40-60 mins of extra time to a nappy so they're worth it IMO. They dry quickly enough as they're thin and you can layer them up for times when you need longer. Nappies are less likely to leak due to compression when you add a natural fibre - microfibre can leak when baby is still for a while but natural fabrics don't tend to.

I have v3s and always add a ll bamboo booster under the microfibre insert - I've just bought some preloved hemp boosters this morning as well. I never bother with a liner though.

I use liners with my bum genius V4, I've found them a really easy nappy to use, my child minder's fine with them too - bonus! They wash & dry fine, the only thing was the elastic went after about 14 months. They're quite easy to replace but time consuming. Now they're fine. They come with a newborn & normal insert. I stick both in for my LO plus I have 2 bamboo inserts. The newborn is fine for the moment but I think soon I'll have to boost with bamboo all the time. Hope that helps
