^^ I actually have the Kindercoat. It's way cheaper than most of the other BW coats out there, and warm enough for winters here. It also separates into a fleece liner and outer shell so I can just wear the liner. Again - it's not pretty but it's super functional! Here's a pic of me and my LO in just the fleece to give you an idea.

That does look very cozy and warm. To be honest, I don't think it looks that bad when looking through google images. Sure, it's not a models coat ... but definitely a functional mummy's one.

Brought the coat up to DH, and he mentioned that when we last saw a 'sling meeting lady' she recommended buying 2 fleece jackets in Primark and making your own. Obviously, DH is all for that now. As long as he does the sewing I don't mind.

Whether made ourselves, a Kinder or MaM, I should definitely be wearing a baby wearing coat this winter. I'm soooo looking forward to trying a wrap and carrying a newborn around again =D

I'm just going to buy a couple sizes up, and baby wear underneath it. I like knowing I can hide them inside my big ol' coat. It can reach -40c here or less sometimes, so they have to be inside my coat for it to be safe to leave the house.

It can get that cold here too. I like the coat because the coat covers all around their head, whereas a larger coat leaves a gap above their head that you have to stuff. Also I do mostly back carries. But I agree - when it is that cold out I will only carry under my coat. Especially since I am out with my son all winter - I need something that keeps her super warm. x

Niamh was a November baby and I used a sleepy wrap, now called the bobba. It fit me fine and I'm bigger than you. It's the most comfortable thing ever to wear, there is a picture of a tiny Niamh in it on my facebook some where. I have a connecta ( a mei tei with buckles but I dident like using it untill she got a bit bigger and had some head control, I dident find it as supportive as the wrap when she was tiny.

Will have a nose through your facebook to find the photo Lozzy, see what it's like. I remember you getting the connecta and posting photos of Niamh in it, she seemed to like it from the word go.

sun - the Kinder coat, did you get it in your usual size or a size up? Wondering how generous it is with sizing. Think it's only s / m / l / xl right? Noticed they sell them in Germany, so would probably order from there as I have failed to find any UK sites, seems that baby wearing coats aren't popular in the UK at all. Also, have you got the normal or the deluxe version?

-Edit-
Loz, is the sleep wrap the purple one? If so, it does look comfortable for Niamh. Was it comfortable on you though? It seems to be supported on the shoulders only and not actually pull over the shoulder to distribute the weight (if that makes any sense). Could just have been the photos I saw of course.

--Double Edit--
Just reading up, and it says that the boba can be used for toddlers as well. Have you tried Niamh in it recently? Just curious as to how long I could keep on using it for, as the other stretchy wraps seem to only recommend the first few months of life in there before moving on to a woven wrap.

I have a freehand mei tai, it seems to work for newborns up to toddlers, I've tried it out on my friend's babies haha. VERY comfy and sturdy, didn't feel loose at all on any of them. not sure if it's available for plus size, if it is I'd definitely recommend it too!

We actually have a palm & pond mei tai, which looks the exact same as the freehand ones. I'm definitely going to try him / her in it, as we comfortably used it on Eleanor from a couple of months old onward. I'll be getting a wrap as well though, as it seems to come highly recommended here for newborns (it seems to offer more full body & head support than a mei tai) and it will be a new experience for me.

Just remembered I actually have a brown sling somewhere at my parents house as well that I used. Not sure what it's called, it's very similar to this one:

Can't say I got along with it all that well, but it was good for nursing so might drag that out next time we go to Holland to visit my parents.

No the purple one is a woven wrap, the boba is the black one, il have a look for it and post it on your wall. The weight distribution is really good, I can wear her at 22lbs for hours and she feels as light as feather.

In theory you can use any stretchy wrap untill toddlerhood since they are safety tested to 30lb but because they are designed to stretch once your baby gets bigger they can stretch a bit too much and get bouncy. You have to keep adjusting it as baby tends to sag once they get around 15lbs.
