Bambino Mio Mums

Just bought my first batch of bambino mio 2 piece nappies and they look great, mastered the folds and managed to put one on him earlier no probs.

But my question to you is about washing, do i need to buy the bambino mio hygeine detergant stuff that you put in the machine with the inserts? is it a must? or can i get away with just good old non bio?

Thanks

You're fine with your normal detergent. Just use a little rather than a normal amount. I'd go for 1/4 dose to start with and reduce it if you can, or the detergent can clog up the nappy fibres and make them less absorbent.

Cool thanks I use the fairy non bio tablets they come in packs of 2 so should I use just 1 tab per wash? Or half? Or less than that even?

I'd start with half a tablet then work down if you can.

Cool, and no fabric conditioner? Can you tumble dry them? Or are they ok to just dry on an airer? I'm worried about the inserts going brick hard!

Tumble drying kind of defeats the purpose of cloth! I don't own a drier so they are all either line dried outside or just hung up in the kitchen......they're always soft enough

No softener unless you use Bold 2in1. Don't tumble the outers but if you want to soften the inserts put them in the dryer after they've been washed for maybe 10-20 minutes. That'll soften them up and then they'll come out warm so will also air dry quicker. I've tried the other way round, tumbling them when they're nearly dry, but it doesn't work as well because the fabric has already goen crispy by then. If you have hard water they might go particularly crispy; water softener should help.

Gloucestershire has stupidly hard water so I may bite my lip and part tumble the inserts of my BG and the pre folds on my mios as my washing does get very crispy if I'm not careful!

Thanks for all the help!
