baby wearing positions

when can your LO face out?
mine is 3 months old and doesn't like to be worn facing in because he's too curious and wants to see all what's going on!
if not facing out, which position can we use? hip?

thanks!

What kind of carrier do you have? I use wraps and a MT, and my LO who is very nosy - can easily just look over my shoulder and side to side when facing me......he usually flings one arm over top and just turns to the side ring slings are good for hip carries but not great if you're doing long long walks as all his weight on one shoulder can hurt your soulder and back a bit, actually hang on, i remember reading a thingy i think its in my booksmarks........

However, a curious baby can easily be satisfied without having to resort to FFO. There are several alternative positions.

One good alternative, which allows the baby to see more of the world while remaining secure and comfortable, is a hip carry in a pouch, ring sling, wrap or one of the specially designed soft structured carriers developed for hip carries.

Another is a high back carry in a mei tai, wrap or soft structured carrier, which enables the baby to peer over the sling user’s shoulder but still snuggle into the parent when she wants to do so.

A third option is a high front carry in a mei tai, wrap, or soft structured carrier, again positioning the baby so he can see over the sling user’s shoulder, but turn away when he has had enough of the outside world

You really should avoid baby facing out, it's not good for baby's spine or hip development and it's not good for your back either.

Yep, even later when they're bigger. I really wish somebody would come up with an adult baby carrier for people to try out . It really looks so uncomfortable to have your legs hanging down like that. Actually in the Didymos instruction book it has a really good way to understand why the legs not being properly supported to the knee (as in a FF position) is a bad idea. Stand up and lift one leg, bent at the knee. With both hands grasp the middle of your thigh to support the leg. Stay like that for a minute. Then repeat the exercise but hold the back of your knee for a minute instead. The difference is huge!

At 3 months I stopped doing front carries and started carrying LO on my back in a woven wrap. She gets a good view of everything and is super comfy. xx

You can get a pretty good seat with the k'tan facing out but as others said there are better ways to let your LO peak around! U can hip carry in the MT or the k'tan & should be able to back carry I the MT (never back carry with a stretchy). There are some decent videos on YouTube for MT carries!
