premature baby eye contact and smile


I have a son who is born on 34 weeks.Now he is 13 weeks old( 10weeks after correction) but hz not smiling and not making eye contact.M very worried

i think it's common for premature babies to take longer to make eye contact or smile. As long as he's smiling by 6 months (adjusted age), no worries. As for the eye contact, was he in NICU? I understand that it can be so overwhelming for premature babies that they focus inwards to get through it, so try not to worry about the eye contact but maybe mention it to your doctor in case he needs his eyes checked.

Thanks a lot, ya he was in NICU for some days...He has started making eye contact, but not so frequently, sometimes he gave us a smile also ....But I am still very worried...How long I have to wait,Please tell..
