Labial Tears...

So much sorer than the vaginal lacerations I have! It's only a 1st degree tear as well, and with the vaginal ones some of them are 2 degree so you'd think they'd hurt more!

Anybody else finding that the labial ones are much more tender and stingy than the vaginal ones? I only have internal vaginal ones, mindyou, so unsure what an episiotomy or external ones must feel like but this is feeling pretty unpleasant.

to all those in pain when they sit down xx

I can sympathise as well. Having had a natural delivery and an 8lb 11oz baby, I was happy to hear that I only had a first degree labial tear, but oh. my. god. It was soooo painful.

A community midwife suggested that I make sure I sit on it - I'd been avoiding it. I guess that increases the blood flow and therefore aids healing. I also got some lavender spray and tea tree oil from Boots. The tea tree oil was the absolute best. I'd put a few drops on my pad, and it did help with the pain and was soothing. I was also knocking back paracetamol and ibuprofen! The midwife also suggested to drink lots, as while peeing is painful when it gets on the tear, if you drink lots your pee is more dilute so less stingy.

It does get better, I promise. *hugs* Mine is hardly noticeable now, as it's nearly healed.

I'm glad I have you girls I can complain to . I will have to try the essential oils to aid the healing I've got some teatree oil that I used to put on my spots, so I will put some of that on my pad today.

And ouch at the 2 deg tears, they must have been atrocious to have to deal with

Defo use the tea tree oil in the bath (10 drops). Not sure if I would have put them directly on the pad though - would have thought it would sting like hell (if it's pure tea tree oil it will actually burn you). After about 2 weeks OH went out and bought me a kid's rubber ring from the local swimming pool - it's the only way I was able to sit down for ages! x

I used it in the bath as well, which was heavenly. It didn't sting when I put it on the pad, but it was only a few drops; and I think that pads are so absorbent that it pulled a lot of it away from the surface of the pad anyway. What I used was pure though - it was this one.
