Lochia or Period? Advice Please :)

Ok so i had my second section 8 weeks ago.

I had the lochia until the day of my 6 week postnatal check then its stopped and turned to a discharge (I also had an internal infection from about 4-6 weeks which didnt help )

Only a few days after that though, i had cramps and the bleeding had returned, though now its VERY heavy, with tiredness, backache and cramps.

Is this the lochia returned due to the infection or just the lochia or is it my period?!?!?!?

The reason i am asking is because it is so heavy im leaking loads and really NEED to use tampons!! (8 weeks of pads is driving me mad!!! ) Just worried though as if its the lochia obviously i cant

What do you all think ?!?!

Thank you very much for reading and helping out

xxx

Tbh, i would avoid tampons for now, especially after an infection, and maybe give urself a little bit longer to make sure you have healed. Have you had a repeat swab tto check infection has cleared?

I had suspected endometritis with my last also (anaerobic bacteria)and treated with metronidazole....have the same smptoms this time, and exactly like yours but my swab was neg...took eurithromycin as bfeeding just incase...but stiiiillllll bleeding. I have a gush a day lol soz tmi, then nothing...wierd. I have awful back aches, and legs and tiredness....but all could be hormonal i guess. If bfeeding unlikely a period but not unheard of.....you are still in outer limits for having Lochia too hun, even though prolonged it can go on 10weeks or so x x

They didnt do a repeat swab, although, she did say if i continued to have the (sorry tmi) puss yellow stuff coming out then i should go back. Well, because that stopped i didnt

This is what i have, but my 'gush' is several times a day and the pad is full within 2 hrs I guess you are totally right, it is only 8 weeks.

Well, i went to town with it in (it felt fantastic to feel 'clean' ) And took it out when i got back at 5ish. No probs at all so far so fingers crossed. I wont be wearing one tonight though as i will worry too much. As its day 7 tomorrow, if its still very heavy i will go to the docs. I called the HV today too to ask her but no answer so hopefully she will call back, will let you know what she says too.

Thank you so much xxx

Just wanted to update.

HV said generally after your 6 week check if everything was ok then its ok to use tampons. I thought this too as the only reason as they say not to use them is because there is an open wound where your placenta attaches to the uterus and tampons can increase infection chances.

She said to try and see, i told her i already had and she said that was ok. (i havnt used another one since now as i dont want to push my luck!!! ) Also said that it more than likely is my period but obviously if it doesnt slow down by monday i should go to the doctors (im guessing as lochia should not restart this heavy)

So, hope this helped you, and once again, thank you all for your advice . Hopefully it will slow down now and then next time i will be fine using them.

xxx
