I had a scan... its the same scan as the 12&20 week baby scan.. they may want to do an internal scan which is a lil camera that goes up your vagina.... if they find anything they'll prob give you a "clear out" (i didn't have this so I dunno what it entails".. good luck x

Hey, I don't know where you are from but my friend who is in the UK had a retained placenta where they didn't remove it all, and she actually sued the hospital because it can be very dangerous if any placenta is left in you and they should of checked it when you gave birth! She got a lot of money...just something to think about! x

I agree it can actually turn septic! If you do have retained products the normal procedure is to have a d&c, I had to have one for the same thing a few years ago and whilst it's not nice having a general anaesthetic you really feel better afterwards. Good luck and keep us updated xx

Thank you, i will do. Ive seen two female do now who think it may be retained placenta but as i have had a break in bleeding slightly that it may be my pill gettin back into system but as i started taking it wen LO was 3 weeks old and shes now over 6 months it should have been settled now as its the mini pill too.
Im not gettin the usual period type cramps, its pain behind belly button. so awaiting scan date to see if there is any retained products left behind.
Getting fed up with the bleeding as it makes me fell not recovered after birth!

x

Yes it makes you feel horrible. I couldn't believe how well I felt after the op, it made me realise how rubbish I'd actually been feeling for the few weeks before xx

I bled 'fresh bright red blood' for more then 6 weeks. At the pp check up, the dr.did an ultrasound to check if there was any retained matter and tbere was a piece of placenta ( even though they thoroughly checked the placenta after the birth). i was asked to take methergine for 5 days to see if it would evacuate but it didnt work, i had to have a d and c. The placenta retained was tiny but would have caused bleeding, infection and difficulty to concieve later.
