I got my mirena in 3 weeks ago and I like it so far. They only issue I've had is with the bleeding in the beginning. You can bleed for up to 3 months on and off without a rhyme or reason. But then your periods disappear, so it seems worth it. I normally have awful reactions to hormones, but so far I haven't noticed anything.

My doctor advised against me getting mirena because it can be linked to osteoperosis as a result of not getting your period. I have a poor history of nutrition which is why she recommended that I get the copper IUD. My sister has mirena though and loves it.

ive decided on copper, after reading all side effects of mirena, the copper definitely sounds better!

Ive had the copper and I will get it again! I loved it! I never had a pregnancy scare on it, I had normal, regular periods right on time and I LOVED that it had no hormones!! I will get another one come January!

im bumping this!
I just dont know what to do about birth control!
Im leaning towards IUD...and i know this sounds crazy, but im scared of the insertation process....which is rediculous, ive gone through a very long natural and unmedicated birth (back to back baby OUCH!) and i plan another with this one...but i was watching youtube videos on it and looks so painful! It scares me...and im worrid, what if it ruins my uterus? Im just scared since its a foreign object, but really i have a feeling with my situation an IUD is best...

what did you end up deciding on? Did it hurt? what was your experience like?
We dont plan on having anymore kids for about 5 yrs. I dont want to be on anything hormonal again and i hate barrier method...i did NFP, but i dont trust that enough bc my ov. is skippy. ...so i guess this makes the most sense but im so scared of the proceedure and the complications that could arise (i know its rare, but they seem detramental if it does happen). !
