How long till everything feels normal down there?

I had my baby 5 days ago.. it was a long and hard labour with no pain relief and ended in a 2nd degree tear and a forceps delivery.

Everything down there feels like its.. not working properly. Like my pelvic floor muscels are not moving.. like I have a weak bladder, like the only way I can have a bowel movement is to wait until its just about to fall out... Sorry TMI.

I don't feel like I can do pelvic floor exercises, I'm not sure if it's just cos of my stitches... They just don't feel like they work!

How long can I expect to stay like this?

I THINK on average it's 6 weeks. But everyone is different I felt comfortable around 4 weeks I'd say but my baby is 6 weeks now and I feel way more comfortable. Its not painful to have sex and much more enjoyable for some reason.

I'm 12 days post partum and feel pretty much back to normal down there...had a natural vaginal delivery at home. I also had a tear with stitches. The first week was the worst, started feeling good again down there this week. X

Can finally do kegals again

I only had a mild first degree tear and I couldn't do kegels for a while. I had incontinance for at least a week where I would walk to the bathroom and pee would start to come out before I got the the toilet and I couldn't stop it lol...it was awful. At about 7 weeks I felt much much better and now at 10 weeks I am 95% back to normal, except for a weak pelvic floor, but no more major peeing issues...just very minor ones on a full bladder. And sex is not painful, which is was before pregnancy, so that is a plus. Hope you feel better soon!

I'm 17 days PP now, and I'm really feeling heaps better! I can cough without everything feeling like its falling out... My stitches are all gone and my tear has healed up really nicely. It's still a tiny bit tender to touch, but thats to be expected.

My OH has started "playfully" asking for sex.. But im way too scared! I think I will give that a few more weeks!

That's great news!! I'm feeling fairly normal though it might be the antibiotics - will see what happens this week!!

glad your feeling well!! I think the biggest thing for me is the fact that I broke my tail bone in labour... so I cant really tell how "normal" im feeling cos i have a swollen, sore butt lol

Aww bless you. I had a third degree tare with my angel and it took a while for it to feel "normal" Be warned tho sometimes now I do feel the odd twinge and this is two years down the line.. and in my most recent pregnancy I felt very achey towards the end..

With you only been 5 days give yourself a bit more time before you start the pelvic floor if you can... I knew I had to do mine when I stood up and the pee fell out of me without any warning! LOL I can giggle about it now but I was mortified!

Plenty of baths with tea tree oil or lavendar oil will help ease your discomfort and as for the number twos a warm bath will help you go ANNNND try getting some lactolose that will keep you pooping!
