People with 3rd degree tears

I had a 3rd degree tear, and while in hospital one nurse vagually mentioned may suggest a c-section next time. No one else ever mentioned this or at any check ups since. Has anyone ever said this to you? At time I didn't think about it more children were last thing on my mind, but been wondering about it lately.

In hospital after my 3rd degree tear I was told by 1 dr that it would be a c-section if I wanted children in the future, but then I have been told by 3 different drs that I will be fine to have a vaginal delivery x

I was advised a section for any future births. I think a lot of it comes down to whether or not you have on going problems xx

I've been told that next time if I want a c-section I can choose to have one, but that most people who don't have successful (and less traumatic) subsequent births vaginally. My hospital is really good and will assess me when (if!) I am next pregnant to see if there would be any specific concerns re. scar tissue etc, but I think unless you were really unlucky a future vaginal birth should be possible.

I had a 3rd degree tare and saw the specialist "foof" lady at the hospital. She checked my lady area over and said a natural delivery would be fine for any future births and it would be unlikely to tare again in the same place. However she couldn't gaurantee a lesser tare on the other side.... I suppose they can't predict whats going to happen!
Sections aren't always necessary with these sort of tares just like the above poster has mentioned x

I had a 3rd/4th degree tear with muscle damage in my bum. I was informed by the registrar after being stitched up that 90% of women go on to have a normal delivery after this but that I would be able to discuss my options with the consultant when I have my next as my labour was "traumatic"..his words, not mine lol x

hi ladies, i too had a 3rd degree tear, my daughter is now 13 weeks and still feel a little traumatised by the birth, i have read that a tear can happen in subsequent births and can even lead to a 4th degree tear! Again, there are no definite ways of knowing! At my 6 wk apt i asked the doctor (this wasnt the doctor that delivered my baby) could i have a section if i had another baby and she basically said that every woman has a choice and that i will probably feel different in 6mths time! She kinda fobbed me off!

I went through so much pain in the first 10 weeks and still dont feel 100% that i could never see myself going through this again! section all the way for me .....

I had a 4th degree tear with a long internal graze and I still have some anal incontinence issues. I was told that I should have a C section next time. I am all for it after going through a traumatic birth and a long and painful recovery. I am afraid of being incontinent for the rest of my life if I attempt another vaginal birth. My lady bits will never be the same again and I feel sad when I see the scarring down below. A C section would should be easier to keep dry and clean compared to being torn down there.

As my doc was stitching me up she told me next one would be easier. I had a 3rd deg tear.

Don't know if she meant it wont take 3.5 hours of pushing next time with a vacuum or that I would tear less. Mine stopped hurting for the most part at 2 weeks. I just found out I have a small fissure in my tear scar that has yeast in it (so I have a tear and a yeast infection). Great. But the trauma from the birth has faded. I used to cry everyday from PTSD from birth. But we've been trying for #2 for almost 4 months now! I hope to have a vaginal delievery again (though I will be asking for lots of reassurance during my prenatal visits) and hopefully not tear as much.

to those that still have ongoing issues.
