Hope someone can help please, I think I started my period around 2days ago, I am breast feeding and my supply seems to have gone today- tried to express normally i get 5oz today only half ounce which I tried at different times. Baby has been latched for 3 hours trying to feed on and off. She wont take formula ...

The bleeding I am certain is my period , bright red and small clots which has been constant over 2 and half days .... how I have this though 6 weeks post partum and a breast feeder .... Whats going on

Are you sure she's not cluster feeding? My LO was 6 weeks Saturday and been feeding ALOT! When did your lochia stop? I didn't think you got periods whilst BF, certainly not after 6 weeks?!

OK, breathe!

First off, how much you can express is NOT an indicator of your supply! Your baby is much much more effective at getting milk out than a breast pump

Second, it sounds like your baby is cluster feeding, its totally normal and can last a few days. I means baby will feed pretty much constantly as they are having/ are due a growth spurt and so are telling your body to make more milk by stimulating the breast. Don't give formula! It will throw it all out of balance.

Third, any bleeding for 56 days after birth is classed as post post-partum bleeding, even if it stops and starts.

Hope that helps! x
