Could be a tear (anal fissure)? Does it sting when you go for a poo?

No, not bad and very common, but they can take a while to heal. It's just a little tear round your anus, but if you keep having hard poos it won't have chance to heal. You'll probably be able to see the tear if you squat over a mirror. Try taking a stool softener like fibrogel or lactulose for a couple of weeks to give it chance to heal. xxx

Actually sounds like hemorrhoids to me. They do sting when you poo and for about 6 weeks after i had my baby, the toilet bowl would be bright red every time i'd poo because they were bleeding each time. Try using some preparation H on the inside, that might help. Of course, it could be an anal tear as well.
