Most of what Iíve read about drinking coffee while pregnant is inconclusive; some say itís okay to drink less than 12 oz. a day others say no caffeine period.
12 oz. a day is way more than what I typically would consume before I got pregnant. Iíve had a few cups of coffee here and there while pregnant but itís always barely more than 6 oz. as my daily coffee routine has seem to have lost some gradual appeal for some reason.
I think it's fine. I have a soda every few days, and when I was pregnant with my son I had a coffee just about every day.
Coffee has, frustratingly enough, been the only thing I can't stomach this time around. No idea why, but it gives me a seriously upset stomach. Argh! If it weren't for that, I'd still be drinking my cup a day.
My personal feeling is: go ahead, but in moderation. That's my feeling on just about EVERYTHING in pregnancy, though.
I've been making a cup of half or full decaf coffee a day since about 16 weeks (before then I couldn't stomach it at all -- it's how I knew I was pregnant at 4 weeks lol). I make it myself so I can put exactly as much caffeine as I want in a given day. If you're using decaf, try to get the swiss decaf / water processed variety as other decafs can have harmful chemicals in them.
i was told as long as i kept it under 150mg of caffeine daily that i would be fine.
so 2 can sodas or 1 cup of coffee.
but i don't like coffee lol so its 1 french vanilla cappachino on the days i don't have a sundrop or dr.pepper which is more frequent now that its colder weather (:
but mostly water, water, and more water
a cup or two a day is fine!
Although I used to be addicted to coca cola, but recently all I've wanted to drink is still, fruit flavoured water (we get through 8 bottles a week).
as long as you're not going crazy with it, you should be fine!
the only thing I've been told is a no-no is stuff like lucozade x
I had 1-2 coffees or a coffee and a tea most days through my pregnancy and my little boy is perfect... a great sleeper, very bright and alert, and a very calm personality (first time I really heard him cry was at his 6-week jabs). I still have a cup or two every day while breastfeeding and it seems to have absolutely zero effect on him and his naps.
