Anyone else suffer from charlie horse cramps?

I got them a lot during the night in my first pregnancy and I just had my first one of this pregnancy. I was on my feet all day and maybe that's what contributed. Anyone have routine they use to prevent them? I was gonna try magnesium spray on my calves.

When not pregnant I take slo mag. I'm not sure if it's safe in pregnancy though. My prenatal seems to be enough.

Possibly increase intake of foods rich in magnesium and potassium. Things like dark leafy greens, whole grains, yogurt, nuts, and avocado should help.

i get them pretty bad. My doctor recommended to drink lots of water, take a warm bath, or drink some gatorade. It seems to help. Most the time i just get up and stretch my calves, though.

OMG yes!!! In my first pregnancy with DS I had no crams at all. With this DS, every time I stretch my legs in the morning before waking up I get the most severe Charlie horse in my calf! This stared at 22 weeks and is an almost daily thing now. Ouch!

I got them when I was going through growth spurts and again when pregnant this last time. I didn't know for a long time how to quickly make them stop so I will share in case anyone else is helplessly writhing in pain like I did:

Sit on the edge of your bed and place your toes on the floor, so that the ball of your foot is on the floor as well. Press your heel to the floor. Usually the spasm is so intense that I can't do this on my own but if I press down on my knee with my hands I can easily force it. Within seconds of my heel hitting the floor the muscle can relax.

Hope this helps!
