Just to be akward I would also avoid buying too many wipes in advance as we found that certain brands gave Abigail eczma. We actually didn't use wipes at all for about the first 6 months unless we were out as she had sensitive skin. We did use an awful lot of cotton wool thought so that would have been useful to stock up on.
i only got nappies with vouchers (like, free packs, or £1 off & bought when asda / sainsburys had a baby event etc), so only spent a few pounds & had about 10 packs of nappies before bella was here.
we had clothes all sorted for the first 6 months.
i had several packs of wipes (again from offers / vouchers), i didn't need to buy any until she was 6 months old (i stockpiled on cotton wool as we used cotton wool & water until she was 12 weeks).
In addition to diapers and wipes, we've also gotten a supply of paper plates, plastic silverware and disposable cups- cutting down on the amount of dishes to do at least in the first month while we adjust to these little ones
Rather than stocking up on diapers and wipes, I bought gift cards every payday for stores that sell baby supplies. I bought a few packs of diapers, each a different brand, so I have some to try when we bring him home. Then I can use the gift cards to buy the brand we end up using.
