Green tea

I haven't looked into it alot, but is there anything saying green tea is bad for pregnancy. I realize anything with caffeine of any level should be in moderation. Just wasn't sure about this one. And what herbal teas, if any. Chamomile safe????

Thanks ladies (and gents) for all your help!!!!

The MW told me to drink green tea to help with swelling and gave me chamomile tea to drink one day before they sent me to the hospital, so they are both fine according to them.

I drank chamomile the entire first trimester and part of the second. (1 cup a night) I have also drank green tea throughout my pregnancy, but I drink this much less often as I drink it in the form of a Green Tea Frappachino from Starbucks. They do not add additional caffeine, but it does have a lot of sugar in it. Before we left the states I went from having them every other day, to only having them 1 or 2x a week. Now that we are in Korea the nearest starbucks is 2 hours from us and so I only have them maybe 1x a month when I go for my appointments. I may start drinking them again more frequently now as I will start having appointments every two weeks here soon.

I still drink green tea but I also try to drink decaffeinated teas in between so I'm not consuming too much caffeine.

i have at least one decaf green tea a day; i was hoping it would help with water retention. a friend went to china and she asked how people kept from getting so bloated after eating the salty food there and they said green tea (i'm sure they drink caffeinated, though).

Caffeine is a natural diuretic, so it helps eliminate excess water from your system. So yep it is the caffeine that helps with this - however you have to drink a couple of cups of it in a day to get that effect, not really great for us pregnant ladies

I love chamomile and have been drinking it, as for green tea Im pretty sure it would be fine, I drink 1-2 cups of it a day & I also drink 1-2 cups of freshly brewed coffee weak though.

I do drink plenty of water throughout the day!
