I suffered from very obstinate retained tissue. It sometimes happens that people need a repeat D&C bit it is extremely rare, apparently, that you need two repeats We waited three months for things to resolve by themselves but they didn't and I ran out of patience.

My miscarriage presented quite weirdly anyway. I was almost twelve weeks and had the right sized uterus but there was no baby as it must have died weeks earlier. My uterus was just full of placental tissue.

If you or anyone reads this and worries about retained tissue, the signs were quite obvious: with small contractions that could last for hours I passed huge clots with gushes of blood and my tests stayed positive.

Once I had the third op out of the way I immediately felt better, had af (real af, I tracked it by temping) a week later and fell pregnant that cycle.
I know I am lucky to be a fertile myrtle but just wanted to let you know that having one D&C does not necessarily hinder your fertility. In fact, studies show that women tend to be more fertile for about six months after a loss.

By the way, I did not lose my babies because I fell pregnant too quickly. It turns out that on top of a clotting issue I also had problems with my immune system attacking my pregnancies. As you can see, we seem to have resolved the issue

If you don't mind me asking, have you had any tests to determine the reason for your loss?
Now i'm gonna worry about having to have another one My doctor didn't even come see me after the procedure for me to ask any questions, midwife just read off the sheet to me Is it normal to bleed after a d+c? Had mine Thursday and bleeding slowing down today? No, we are still waiting for Olivia's PM results, although I received a letter yesterday saying that in future pregnancies I will have scans at the first tri and 2nd tri to rule out and other complications and an oral glcose tolerance test at 28 weeks? Does that mean i will get scanned before 12 weeks next time? xx

I think it would be abnormal not to bleed afterwards. I forget how long the heavy bleeding lasted but I remember it was like a lightish period flow right after the surgery and then in about two days it was like a heavy period flow and then tapered down for about to a week to spotting. My dr did not do any testing on why the miscarriage happened because here the standard is three mmc before they do testing on tissue to find out the cause.

My doctor also didnt really explain anything to me (I did most of my research on my own) but told me what to watch out for that were symptoms to call the dr about or go into the ER about. For myself everything was very textbook.

I had one 12 years ago, a ruptured ectopic 5 years ago, and now a healthy 25 weeks along. Lots of hope!

Giz, for first tri losses they won't test here until after you've had three, either. But second and third tri losses are much more unusual and there is a benefit in knowing what caused it (e.g. incompetent cervix, which would need to be addressed in future pregnancies) so further investigations are usually offered.

Mrs, it is quite normal to bleed after a successful D&C, even for a couple of weeks and even with passing smaller clots.
They don't usually rescan you or do any kind of follow up unless there is a reason for it. The vast majority of D&Cs are known to be successful so there is no need for it.
Something you could do to see how things are going is to test out your hcg. Once your tests are negative you should expect your cycle to come back although the first one might be odd. You may or may not ovulate and your period could be heavier, clottier or even lighter than you are used to.

By the sound of it, you will have extra scans, at least one of them being in first tri.
If your local hospital has one, you may also be entitled to see a bereavement midwife (if they don't offer, it is worth asking). I haven't seen one myself but have heard a lot of positive stories about them.

Olivia is a beautiful name, btw!

You just need a few cheap hpts.
Try one, if it is dark, wait a week or two and then try again. You'll probably feel things getting back to normal anyway.
With me, it's the boobs and weirdly I shed more hair in the shower but everyone has different symptoms. Xxx

Taking some cheapie hpts will tell you when your hcg level has gone back to normal. I bought a bunch off Amazon...like 50 opks and 50 hpts for 10 bucks and just poas every morning till I got a negative then used the opks to find my ovulation date so I could avoid bding at that time (didnt want to risk another miscarriage or chemical pregnancy) and then waited for my first period post surgery.

It really seemed to fly by fast, from surgery to bfp. I swear I blinked and bam it was a couple days before dfs bday and I was waking him up at 330 am (couldnt sleep) waving wet hpts in his face asking him if I was crazy or if there were two lines. LOL

I didn't realise you were pregnant again, congratulations!
This may sound silly, but what do you search for on amazon when you want the cheapie tests? Yeah, I think i'm going to wait for a period before ttc, and plus we want olivia's results back before we do anyting xx

My favourite cheapies are from here:

www.accessdiagnostics.co.uk/

I always got the 'professional' ones that come 25 per vial. The normal ones are 25miu, the ultra ones are 10miu.

You should be able to find a 5-10% discount code by googling, too.
