House sale...So close but yet so far :(

After months of looking on the housing market, we finally found a house we fell in love with in January.

Since then its been none stop solicitors, agents, forms, forms and forms. Yesterday we went to exchange contracts when the selelrs solicitors suddenly announced that the lady who we are buying from has not found a house yet and as we are first time buyers we can wait until she is ready. She is also refusing to get temporary housing.

Long story short, we are back to square one, living in a place i can only describe as a sh!t hole with no heating, a bath that doesnt work, (can manage to fill a baby bath or have a trickle shower), no underlay and the doors dont even fit in the door frames properly oh and in the middle of no where.

Just seems that everything is going wrong at the moment. Didnt sleep again last night and now getting braxton hicks. I just really dont want to stress myself out as i know its not good for the baby

Sorry just needed to rant somewhere, if i say this to my OH he takes offence that i am aiming the blame at him. It just causes an argument.

Buying a house is just so stressful. I'm sorry you're going through this.

However, I wanted to say that I think your vendor is acting in an unreasonable way, particularly if you have already spent money on searching and were at the point of exchange. What does your solicitor have to say about it? Do they have any advice for you?

Hello,

I know, just trying to take a step back and think 'at least we have a home' and i need to stop being so dramatic!

The solicitor seemed shocked that she didnt have a house ready to go to seen as though it was was a stipulation of our offer (not in writing though). Our Solicitor has given them a months deadline to find somewhere else or we are withdrawing and has told the sellers solicitors that we are looking for other places (which we will be) just a shame i guess as in a month i will nearly be ready to pop!! x

When we bought our new house (5years ago now!) I was so sick of the stress I was relieved our garden is massive so we can extend, I can safely say I never want to move again. The people buying our old house's solicitor was ridiculous and kept losing stuff we had sent them, holding up the whole process.

I wish you all the best in getting it sorted, and nice to see a fellow North East-ener x

We're in a similar situation, so I can totally empathise. We had spent months looking and finally had the paperwork going through on a beautiful house. Yesterday the seller pulled out and we are back to square one. We too are in an unsuitable place at the moment so it's very frustrating. x

Luckily our solicitor is a family friend and isn't going to charge us as he knows we'll use him at some point in the next few months hopefully. Just annoyed that we had already had the survey done and paid for. Total waste of money. So annoyed at the seller. He is splitting up with his wife and has now decided to buy her out. If we had known that it was a possibility we would have never put an offer in or lwet it get as far as we did

Looking at another after work tonight, so fingers crossed x
