Chance of twins

I'm trying to figure out how likely it would be to conceive twins. My dh is a fraternal twin & twins run in my family too but it's been a few generations. My maternal grandpa had 8 siblings of which there were two sets of twins & one of his siblings had triplets but that is the last multiple birth I know of in my family. Does anyone know what the chances would be of having twins in our situation???

Since it's your ovaries releasing the eggs, only your family history matters when it comes to your odds of conceiving fraternal twins (identical twins occur randomly so everyone has the same odds there).

The fact that there were relatively recent multiple births in your family does increase the likelihood that you might have a genetic disposition toward "hyperovulation," but there isn't really any way of giving you exact odds. The natural rate of twins is just over 1%, so even if your chances are above average they're probably still pretty small.
