It is an old wives tale that it encourages labour, it doesn't. If anything it helps the pushing stage of labour along but there is no official proof. Some people say you should start taking either the tea or a supplement of it from 34 weeks, increasing dosage at 36 weeks.

I believe in it :-)
Started drinking the tea at 36 weeks (1 cup a day increased to 3 cups a day by 40 weeks)
By the time I got to hospital I was over 8cm dilated and had baby 4 hours later.
This is my first so I fully expected to go in at 2cm and take 2 days in labour like all the stories people tell you when you're preg.
RLT is a natural product, no nasties in there so I don't see why anyone wouldn't try it - although I have read that some ladies hate the taste...

I found it at Whole Foods, the brand was called Yogi Tea, and it was $5.

However I've done some personal research, and quite a few websites suggest that taking the tea too early [1st or 2nd tri] could cause complications or even miscarriage. I would highly suggest talking to your doctor, I personally have stopped taking it since I'm only six weeks and don't intend to take it until the week or my due date in November.

I don't have any experience of not using it but with my daughter I went from 5cm-10cm within an hour and she was born with 2 pushes....needless to say I'll be stocking up in October
