DH is a mixed race (Asian / Caucasian), whereas I'm purely Caucasian. DH has some yellowing to his skin, whereas I'm fair-skinned. When our son was born, it looked like he had my fair skin. Within a couple days, he got his yellowing. The pediatrician on site wondered how he looked a little yellow but not from jaundice. Even now, while BFing, I notice LO is darker than me.
My husband is Brazilian, so he is a mixture of everything . My three children look like siblings but yet they are all very different. My oldest son looks caucasian/Japenese. My daughter looks latin and the youngest boy has blond hair and green eyes!!
All of them were darker than me when they were newborn and are fairer now, but still olive skinned. My oldest did look very yellow for a good few weeks.
My dad is white and my mom is white/Japanese. I came out brown and my brother came out white. I don't get as pale as my OH but close to it I lost the browness around middle school (lol That's the weirdest post I ever wrote) My son came out white with oval eyes? OH is also white
I can't wait to see what my LO looks like! I am mixed race (Asian/Black/White) and my OH is white. The mixed race comes from my mum's side. But looking back, it's kind of a tradition that the first born looks white and the rest look mixed (My mum's eldest sister is white, my older brother is white, in one set of cousins the eldest is white).
I'm mexican/spanish and my ex husband is welsh. Our son is literally a blend of us, white looking with a tan. But when he was a baby he looked like a lil mexican black hair n all. Now he has lightened a lot. I'm assuming it will be similar with this pregnancy. DH and the ex are pretty similar looking minus their height and build. Facial features/color are very similar.
I can't say I've experienced this but my OH is white and filipino and has this yellowing. I'm full white so our LO will be mixed.
I've seen baby photos of my OH and he was quite fair skinned until he got to about 4... and then he went quite dark and now he tans very easily. I think it would really depend on the child, your LO could be fine and just coming into their natural colouring.
Ginagg - I'm also (fully) English with a Ghanaian partner (he's Ga).... I look at all our nieces and nephews on both sides and try to work out what a combination of them would look like - and fail! On my side they tend to be blonde hair and blue eyes on his they are dark brown eyes and curly dark hair....so I've no idea how our baby will come out!
I have a friend who's Ghanaian and married to a blonde haired, blue idea polish lady - their two children (one boy / one girl) are both absolutely stunning...(maybe I'm biased!)
