Double Buggies??? Arrrggghhh!!!

Is there such a thing as the perfect double buggy???

My daughter will only be 11months when my son arrives so a double/tandem pushchair is a must.

I had decided on the Bugaboo Donkey. However the chassis doesnt fit into our car boot

We've looked at the Icandy Peach Blossom, but the seats looked really close together and not very big (my daughters are all VERY tall for their ages). We tried the Baby Jogger City Select but now ive read that they get very heavy with 2 older children in them?? We've looked at the BJ City Mini GT and the Mountain Buggy Duet but both have flaws and im wondering if I should steer away from the side-by-side as being able to convert into a single buggy would be great for when my daughter starts walking more??

We've now seen the Phil&Teds Promenade online, which looks great. However, I haven't been able to find a stockist (other than on the web) and I hate the idea of buying 'blind'.

Gah, and I thought single buggy shopping could be difficult!!!!

Any thoughts/advice ladies?? x

Definately no such thing as a perfect double. Think we have decided on the out and about nipper 360. It is really light and easy to push and as it's a side by side both babies will be able to see out however need to compromise on the parent facing aspect.

I looked at the promenade in the shop. It's a nice buggy but it wasn't as easy to push as the nipper. Although I can see the advantages of having a 'one behind the other' buggy I worry about fights as to who gets which seat as they get older. Also as the child in the bottom seat gets bigger they end up sitting with their legs in the shopping basket.

I think when it comes to doubles it is all about compromise though.

IMO No! lol!!

Ive been looking for ages!! Ive looked at every single one on the market and they all have flaws for me!! I love the Icandy peach blossom but like you said the seats are small and close together for the price it wasnt worth it for me!

I looked at the p+ts promenade and theres alot more room in the seats for me its like the icandy but better! It was just too expensive for me!

So im getting the Britax Bdual i have fallen for it there are a few things like it is a little heavy but your going to have 2 children in it so it will be heavy ill just have to live with that! It has loads of room for my son and the bottom seat lays flat for the baby to go in!

I was going to go for the p+ts explorer but it felt unstaible with the 3 wheels and the toddler seat cant recline at all!

I have an icandy pear which I now use as a single with the larger seat unit. I found out from icandy that you can unscrew and swap the seat connectors over to make it face out. I also had to purchase an apple hood so he had more head room but at 2.4 years, he still fits well. When the baby comes he will only need it for the occasional rest and nap anyway.

At the time I got it the idea of being able to have the newborn facing me, put the icandy pear over the Phil and Teds, peach wasn't an option then, or if it was I didn't see it.

Another alternative is one of those seats that clips on to the side of the buggy you have already? It can recline too so no need to worry about the older child not being able to nap. I cannot remember the name of them, but they look really neat.

If I were to buy one today, I would opt for the Icandy Peach Blossom 2.

Lol, you have me doubting myself again. I was hoping to manage round shops with a side by side.......maybe I'm being naive! Either that or using my single buggy for my DD and putting the new baby in a sling - not ideal either if wanting to try on clothes or stop for lunch etc. I'm SO confused!!! x

There is definitely no such thing as a perfect double. I looked for ages and eventually bought a Hauck Duett, purely based on the fact that it was the only one that would fit through my front door! It's pretty much exactly the same design as a Britax Bdual but much cheaper (you get them on Kiddicare.com) A side by side was out for me too due to my narrow front door and the fact that I live in a small town with little shops. I'd measure the spaces you need to go through and go from there. I'm pleased with my Duet, I've taken it round town with LO in it and I fitted in almost all of the shops. It is light to push, only thing is it is heavy when you are trying to lift it up curbs but this is a problem with all tandems. Good luck!

LOL! Sorry! I live in suffolk and all the towns around here have stupid doorways with tiny shops i struggle with the single ive got so ive got no chance with a double!! I really like the mountain buggy double buggie (but its side by side!) I know someone with the bugaboo donkey and she said she cant fit through the shop isles! I wish we could try before we buy it would be so much better!!

The newest model of the peach due for release this year have apparently addressed the problem of the seats being to close together. They have moved the front seta forward to create more legroom for the bakc seat, or so i read.

I really love the icandy but i grudge the price. Theni got some PPI money back unexpectedly so was all for buying it and then about a billion perfectly decent double prams came on our local facebay for £50 - £100 and now i feel guilty buying an expensive one when we could get a pperfectly nice cheap one and use the money for other things.

DH has said its up to me as it is the only thing we need to buy for this pregnancy as my LO is still so young. I'm so torn tho, i love the icandy peach blossom but am worried i will regret it later. Am planning a trip soon to our local stockist to see if it fits in our boot and if LO is ok for seat size (pretty sure he will be as hes always been a tiny baby).

Never thought buying a pram would be so difficult first time round i picked the second pram i looked at and was quite happy with it and always said i never understood people who spend hundreds of pounds on a single pram, lol then i looked at prices of doubles and was shocled
