Who's having the nt testing? Why/why not?

I don't think I want it but hubby does.
I mean they can't tell you IF your baby has down syndrome, just if u have higher risk factors right??
And I've heard of heaps of people getting told they're "high risk" and having a healthy child! unnecessary stress!
I'd really love to hear people's opinions/ experiences!

Also I think at age 27 my risk is only like 1 in 2000 or something, right?

I plan to get it, however, I am 38 so my risk is much higher. I'm actually hoping for a scan that will lower the odds to put my mind at ease to some extent.

im having the NT scan and blood screening to give me a combined risk factor, at 25 its unlikly to be high, however, if it is i'll be going for an amnio, i have a disability myself, and we'd to talk seriously about if we can manage a downs baby on top of my disability and hubby being in the forces

I plan on having this done. I want to know. I would never give up or get rid of my baby if I found out he or she had downs but I want to know in advance so that I can be prepared for what we will face as well as being able to give my baby the best chance possible at a good life.

I am 34, OH is 40. We had both decided a while ago that we would not have either the NT test or the Amnio. We both feel that they are not for us, the results would not make a difference. The Anomaly scan will pick up anything major anyway.

I am just worried if we get the slightest risk it will change things for o.h.
He def does not want a special needs child!

I'm in two minds. I mean, some places in the UK don't even offer a 12-week scan as standard, and it only gives probabilities, which might scare me silly without meaning anything. And then I'm not sure how I'd react to anything actually being wrong - although I've half convinced myself that it'll be bad news, in the hope that if it is I'll be able to cope better.

Obviously I want to see it and get a picture and all that stuff, just not convinced about the screening bits.

I didn't get it. Hubby and I are 22 and 23 years old, healthy, and have a healthy son. We just didn't find it necessary, we just decided a baby is a baby and we will love it no matter what plus I am a Christian believer and believe that it's all in Gods hands so whatever He has in His plan for us is the right plan Also, I think that if there were something wrong they would find out at the anomaly scan anyway! It's really all personal preference though!

I'm 34 and am having it done. I'm not in ultra high risk group, but it would change things for us if we found out something was wrong. Fingers crossed and everything's fine as its not a decision I would like to make.
