How far along am I?

Hello,
This is my post of many posts on this forum, and I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. I've been looking through posts, and most women seem so sure of how far along the pregnancy they are, but I not sure at all.

It was an unplanned pregnancy, but now my and my boyfriend have got our heads around we are thrilled. However, I was on Cerazette which really messed up my cycle to the point where I was constantly on my period throughout most of January up until the 20th (ish). Since then I have not had a period. I was less than scrupulous taking the pill, and because of this I'm now not sure how pregnant I am.

I had a vague idea I might be pregnant towards the end of February and did a test which came out negative, but still had the niggly feelings on 6th March so I took a ovulation predictor test which came out positive and 2-3 weeks since conception, which would have made me 4-5 weeks pregnant, so that means I am now 5-6 weeks pregnant.

I went to the doctors on Tuesday, and his first question was obviously, 'when was your last true period'? To which I replied that I didn't know; roughly beginning of January. He didn't seem to be able to help, just to guestimate that I was around 6 weeks pregnant, and refer to a midwife.

My boobs have rapidly expanded, but so far no sickness symptoms, although I do feel a bit queasy when I've not eaten. Could anybody give me their experiences of how accurate the conception predictors are? Also, is it possible to request an early dating scan? It's going to kill me to have to wait until they think I'm 12 weeks. I've got an appointment with the midwife on Wednesday, but it would be nice for some advice because I don't tell people earlier than I have to.

Thanks.

If you havent started morning sickness yet, you are more than likely less than 6 weeks (although remember some people get it at different stages and some, not at all).

And if you can remember the time you started to feel any different (hormonal/tiredness/sore boobs etc), id say you were probably 1-2 weeks gone.

Wait for your midwife appt or for your scan to come through they will be able to tell the dates, but if you cant wait you can pay for a private scan they cost between 40-200 dependong where you live and where you wanna go etc

I'm in exactly the same position as you. I was on the pill but missed a period. I took a test 5 days after missed bleed and got a faint BFP, which got stronger as the days went by. I went to the doctor and he just guessed I was 6 weeks, but midwife appointment is not until next Friday (2 and a half weeks after doctor's appointment). He said she will probably want to book me in for an early scan. I hate not knowing how far along I am and have been considering paying for an early scan too. I really have no idea what to do!

X

To Twinklebunny

I was reading your thread in relation to not feeling pregnant, and we are in exactly the same boat. Everyone else seems so sure of how far along they are! I don't feel pregnant at all, and apart from the slightly swollen boobs, if I didn't know I was pregnant, I wouldn't think I was pregnant-does that make sense?! I think I would be one of those women who didn't have a clue I was expecting until it popped out!! It doesn't make it easier because of me not having proper periods either, technically I could either be 8 weeks pregnant or 4 weeks!!

I had a TINY bit of bleeding last night, and immediately began freaking out. It's stopped today though, and no cramps or pains at all, so I'm hoping it was an implantation bleed or something similar. I've got an appointment with my m/w on Wednesday. I almost wish I had morning sickness or some other symptoms, just so it felt real. Me and the boyfriend have both told our parents, and it was as though we were talking about someone else who had just got pregnant!

Anyway, rant over, thankyou for your advice, and if you ever want to chat to someone who's going through the same thing, you know where I am xxx

hello, maybe you could ask for a early scan when you see your midwife, this happened to my friend she thought she was about 8 weeks when she found out, due to having 2 day bleed, went for a scan and she was 11 weeks 3 days!! so your never know!
