Materna21 testing and timing?

I have been looking into the different types of genetic testing I can get and I am not for the more invasive kinds like the amnio and the cvs. The Materna21 test kept popping up in my searches and it sounds like it would be a good option for me. I called my OB's office to ask about it and the staff person told me that they do genetic testing between 15 and 20 weeks.

I read that the test can be given weeks earlier. Does anyone know why the test would be done between 15 and 20 weeks as opposed to earlier? Is there just more genetic material to get? I am impatient lol. Bless the poor souls at my OB's office that have to deal with me. I will wait because I am not in a big rush. Just curious!!

I had it done at 13 weeks. I think it can be done after 10 weeks, but not certain about that.

I only talked to the front desk girl today. I will talk with the doctor when I see him this week.

That's a good idea bc I bet she is thinking of traditional genetic testing, like the amnio. She may not even know about the MaterniT21. I know my OB's nurse had never heard of it and although my OB had heard of it he didn't know anything about it really and had never done it. He had to contact a friend of his who is a high risk OB to find out more about it and then sent me to that OB for the test. Good luck!

It can be done as of 10 weeks. It says so on their brochure that I have at home. Good luck!
