Ameamia and midwife rant

Hi girls bit of a random one for the past 4 weeks iv had the worst head ache iv been to see my gp ( well its one i dont normall see ) she blames stress, im the least stressed person ever so i know its crap.

Anyway the past few weeks my skin has gone pale white my finger nails are white, chest pains lack of energy etc all classic symptoms of lack iron, i rang the midwife centre earlier only to be told i must be making it up as when i booked it when i was 4 weeks my iron levels were fine, i know for a fact theres something wrong i know its probly not serious but its making me feel so bad, i honestly feel like its all in my head that these people arnt helping me, i dont want to get iron tablets incase they do more harm than good but i litrally cant carry on feeling this way, i know pregnancy is draining but this is passed that !

Sorry pointless moan thread !

It's not pointless, this is your health! I'm sorry no one is listening to you, but have you tried a new MW? Or a 2nd opinion anywhere really. Go asking until someone can find out what's wrong.

iron tablets won't hurt you, i suffer with low iron, and i take 'pregnacare' during the whole 9 months and whilst breastfeeding and it helps a little.
even after taking that, i am low again by the time i give birth so i usually have to be put on some perscription meds to help out! i forget what the iron tablets are called, but it isnt advised to take iron tablets alone, because you may be low on vitamin which is what helps your body to soak up the iron in the first place.
holland barrett sell a iron tablet with vitamin b supplement included, iron tablets can cause constipation as well, and as we all know, constipation is already a risk to us all as were preggers.
ive never suffered with it whilst taking the pregnacare though! there are some great bargains for it on ebay ATM i just had to re-stock because i haven't actually come off the tablet for more than 3 months in almost 3 years LOL

I don't understand how she could say that you are "making it up", very unprofessional.. When I was pregnant with DD my Iron levels went to being fine, then just 2 weeks later I was sitting in the hospital having an iron infusion..

don't worry about taking iron tablets if you need them. tons of pregnant ladies have to take them including myself. and also they are also now pushing for it to be routine that from 20 weeks all pregnant ladies take them for an extra boost. i hope you get checked over properly and you start to feel better. xx
