First cup of coffee in 10 weeks... now feeling so guilty...

I could not get out of bed this morning (afternoon!). I slept from 8pm yesterday until noon today. I had so much to do but for some reason I just couldn't get out of bed... so I made myself a cup of coffee for the first time in over 2 months. It's helping a lot, but I feel so guilty. Like a drug addict or something. I hope I didn't hurt my baby :'(

End of rant.

You can have a cup everyday if you want! :-) they say 200mg of caffeine is safe.

awee you shouldn't feel guilty! you went without for 10 weeks that's really good! you should actually be very proud of yourself. One cup of coffee a day is okay and wont harm the baby. A lot of woman can't go without their coffee for that long lol.

You're allowed have coffee. You just shouldn't have too much but 1 cup a day is certainly not too much! Even if you drank several a day (not that I'm recommending that) the chances of anything happening are very low!

You can have upto 200 mg of caffeine per DAY, so one cup in 10 weeks isn't a problem. This is from the NHS website on how much caffeine is in which drinks:

one mug of instant coffee: 100mg
one mug of filter coffee: 140mg
one mug of tea: 75mg
one can of cola: 40mg
one can of energy drink: up to 80mg
one 50g bar of plain chocolate: up to 50mg
one 50g bar of milk chocolate: up to 25mg

So if you had one mug of filter coffee, you've had approx 140 mg caffeine, which is under your daily allowance. So you're perfectly safe to have another one tomorrow, and the day after, and the day after etc.

Beating yourself up for one coffee in 10 weeks - which is perfectly safe - is ridiculous.

See this is why I can't stand the doctors in this country. My OBGYN said even small amounts of caffeine greatly increase the risk of birth defects, or low birth weight. Although they regularly push women who are even slightly overweight to go on a 1000 calorie diet while they're pregnant. Now I really want to go back home :'(
